NLEX-C5 Northlink Section nears completion at 96%

QUEZON CITY — THE 2-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink section connecting Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway is nearing completion, with construction reaching 96%, paving the way for improved road connectivity between Quezon City, Metro Manila, and Central and North Luzon.
The elevated expressway is expected to provide motorists with a direct alternative to Mindanao Avenue, offering a faster and more convenient route between Quirino Highway and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
Construction is focused on completing concrete barriers and expansion joints along the mainline, finishing the eastbound and westbound ramps at Quirino Highway, and undertaking the remaining civil works ahead of the segment’s opening.
Once operational, the all-weather expressway will run 24 hours a day, accommodate all vehicle classes, and serve an estimated 11,000 vehicles daily. It will also provide access to the NLEX Connector toward Manila, the University Belt and Makati, as well as northbound routes to Central and North Luzon.
Safety and traffic management features will include closed-circuit television cameras, speed management systems, advanced RFID readers and Neology antennas for toll collection, roadway lighting, traffic signs, pavement markings, protective barriers and reflective safety devices.
NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon said the company is accelerating construction to deliver infrastructure that can help motorists reduce travel time and costs amid fluctuating fuel prices.
“While fuel prices and other travel-related costs are beyond our control, we can provide reliable road infrastructure that helps people reach their destinations more efficiently,” Reñon said.
The segment, officially identified as Segment 8.2 Section 1A, forms part of the 11.3-kilometer NLEX-C5 Northlink project, which will connect Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia near Katipunan Avenue.
The larger project aims to strengthen transport links between Metro Manila and Central and North Luzon through the NLEX network.
NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
